Notes
  • Sub Recipients: Share the DMS plan with sub recipients during the proposal process & ensure budgets reflect the plan
  • Budget:
    • The NIH is moving away from the "single line item" guidance and will go back to the budget methods used previously for the resources needed to support the DMS Plan (i.e. add Data Curator in the appropriate place rather than in the single line item.
    • The justification for the DMS resourc e should be with the budget item.
    • NIH is moving back to key personnel rather than separating personnel costs in October
    • Some DMS costs are not direct (Library provides curation (in F&A rate), the repository is free), therefore there could be plans with zero DMS costs.
  • Templates: There are two new templates available (loaded in the DMPTool)
    • Alpha is an automated form and provides little opportunity for error or missing information as that of the free form.
    • Bravo is the free test form version.
    • The forms can also be found on the FDP Pilot site.
    • The discussion included that the Alpha form provides less opportunity for error and therefore could lead to less follow-up and questions from reviewers back to the PI and the Institution.
    • WVU Note: Our experience has been that those who use the DMPTool have better quality plans and need less help with completing the plan. Using the Alpha template may be a good idea for those who are completing the plan for the first time.
  • Pilot Participation:
    • Option to participate in open now for individual PIs and institutions to participate in Phase 2 which begins in October
