As West Virginia University continues efforts related to its transformation, WVU also must remain future-focused and committed to those initiatives that will be differentiators for the University, enhance the student experience and help faculty and staff to work smarter and more efficiently.
Among these initiatives are the WVU Modernization Program and the WVU Research Office’s efforts to enhance the University’s electronic research portal through a new electronic research administration platform.
Following a thorough assessment of potential solutions and a competitive public bidding process, WVU has selected the Huron Research Suite as its new electronic research administration platform.
The Huron Research Suite will replace WVU+kc (Kuali) for proposal submission, award management, protocol management, conflict of interest and more.
The Research Office, Information Technology Services (ITS) and other partners across the University will begin implementation in 2023.
WVU will implement six modules from the Huron Research Suite, including:
- Grants
- Agreements
- Conflict of Interest (COI)
- Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
- Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Animal Operations
Custom-built modules currently in WVU+kc either will be moved into the new tool or into the Kuali Build system, which WVU will retain.
The Huron Research Suite will help the Research Office streamline business processes in a single platform and automate processes that are currently manual. For researchers, the new tool will reduce complexity, prevent the need to enter the same data in multiple places, speed up approvals and help ensure compliance.
Researchers will have opportunities to participate and provide feedback throughout the project. Visit researchportal.wvu.edu to learn more. Contact researchportal@mail.wvu.edu with any questions.
